a homeless woman
whispers
tries to retrieve
shards
that lead her
to this place
hitching a ride
six degrees
a Samaritan
takes her to
a hotel
heat, shower
TV, clean sheets
she hails
heaven
as
fragments
stick together
long enough
to decide that she is
not used to
fancy rooms
but prefers
to pay six bucks for a
basement spot
next to the
Lost Sock
